The Tongue I Left Behind
Driven from his homeland by a coup, a poet can no longer write in his mother tongue and must remake himself in a borrowed language. Across eight linked stories, loss of language becomes loss of self, until he discovers that a third voice, born in the space between two tongues, can turn that loss into a new source of creation.
