We Are Nervous

We stand behind the stage.

Many people are out there.

I look at my friends.

Tom holds his drum tight.

"I am nervous," says Tom.

Ann holds her flute tight.

"I am scared," says Ann.

Sam is very quiet.

"We are all nervous," I say.

My hands are shaking too.

My heart goes boom, boom.

Then I have an idea.

I take my friends' hands.

"It's okay!" I say.

"We are together."

"We are a team now."

My friends look at me.

They smile a little.

"We can do this!" we say.

We are not scared now.

We are ready and happy.
