Have You Ever Said Goodbye?
An autumn morning of letting go
came, and the leaves turned red and golden brown.
The North Hill was quiet, and the air was cool.
Luna was almost fully grown now, tall and strong.
One cold morning, she stood at the top of the hill.
She was looking toward the far northern mountains again.
I knew that today was the morning of her leaving.
Luna has grown so much since that snowy winter day.
She has learned to hunt, to run, and to howl.
Saying to a friend is never an easy thing.
"Have you ever said to someone you ?" I asked myself.
I have said to many people in my life.
But saying to Luna felt harder than all of them.
Watching her has been the best gift of my year.
Luna has become brave, and now she must find her pack.
Helping a wild animal means letting it go one day.
I have never felt so happy and so sad together.
Luna turned and looked at me with her calm eyes.
"Go," I whispered. "Your is waiting for you now."
She has trusted me since that first cold winter morning.
Leaving me was hard, but Luna knew it was time.
She took one slow step toward the distant northern hills.
Watching her , I felt tears fall down my cheeks.
"Have you ever loved something wild and ?" I asked.
That morning, I learned that loving means letting go.
