The next morning, Grandma Rose visited Tom's small house.

Emi and Mr. Green went with her to help.

A woman opened the door very slowly.

She was Tom's mother, and she looked pale but kind.

"Please come in," she said in a soft voice.

Inside, the house was small and a little cold.
