The Hungry Boy
A little thief with a big reason
The old door opened, and we looked inside.
A small boy was sitting on an old .
He was holding a piece of sweet bread.
The boy looked scared when he saw us.
"Please don't be ," I said very .
"We are not with you," Mio added softly.
Slowly, the boy started to us.
His name was Taku, and he was seven years old.
Taku was living in the cold shed.
His family had many troubles at their home.
He was too scared to stay in his house.
"I was very hungry every morning," Taku said .
"So I took one bun from the kind bakery."
"I always said sorry in my little note."
The gray cat was his only quiet friend.
Taku was sharing his bread with the hungry cat.
My heart felt while I listened to him.
Mio was holding Taku's small cold hand.
"You are not a bad boy," I said kindly.
"You were only hungry and very scared."
I wrote Taku's sad story in my Case Notebook.
We wanted to help this little boy.
"Let's visit Mr. Sato together," I said .
Taku was still , but he slowly nodded.
