The Kitchen Full of People
A year later, the little diner is a warm home
A year has passed since I opened the diner.
The seasons have changed from spring to winter again.
Now the little kitchen is full every single day.
More people come now than in the old days.
The diner is warmer and busier than before.
Mr. Tanaka still sits at his window table.
The gray-haired man comes with new friends now.
He smiles more often than he did last year.
Mika has become the best after me.
We have added many new dishes to the menu.
But the vegetable soup is still the one.
I have learned every recipe in my grandmother's book.
On the wall, there are many photos of customers.
Each photo shows a happy face and a warm meal.
In the hangs my grandmother's old photo.
In the picture, she is smiling at everyone kindly.
I have kept her note close to my heart.
" with your heart," her old words still me.
This diner has become more than just a shop.
It has become a warm home for the town.
Tonight, the tables are full, and people are laughing.
I look at her photo and , "Thank you."
The little kitchen on the corner is again.
