You Are the Anchor
Chosen to carry the team's hope
The next morning, Mr. Tanaka called me to his office.
"Sora, I will you as our anchor," he said.
I could not his words at first.
"But I am too slow for that job," I said.
"Listen to me carefully," Mr. Tanaka said .
"You do not have to be the fastest runner."
"Just the sash to the very end."
"Do not stop, and do not look back," he said.
"I will in you until the last step."
His words made my feel warm and strong.
"The other runners will build our ," he explained.
"You will that to the final line."
"Run with your heart, not only with your legs."
I took a deep breath and thought about it.
"I will try my best, Coach," I answered slowly.
"Good. your team, and they will you."
That afternoon, I told my teammates the news.
"You will be a great anchor," Ken said happily.
"We will bring the sash to you safely," they promised.
For the first time, I felt truly needed.
Tonight, I will start my special anchor training.
I will run for my team, not just for myself.
Tomorrow, my real as the anchor will begin.
