The Wrong Platform
Getting lost in a big station and asking for help
The next morning, I arrived at a big, station.
I needed to trains to continue north.
But the station was huge, and I did not know the way.
Many people walked quickly past me with their bags.
I looked at the , but I could not read all the names.
"Did I come to the right place?" I asked myself.
I ran to platform five and jumped on a waiting train.
A few minutes later, the train started to move.
Then I heard the name of the next stop, and my face turned white.
This train did not go north; it went south to the sea.
"Did I take the train?" I thought in shock.
At the next stop, I got off and looked around.
I did not see any for the northern line.
An old woman with a kind face stood near the .
"Excuse me, how do I get to the north platform?" I asked.
"Go , then left at the ," she said slowly.
"The train to the north leaves from platform eight."
"Did you your train?" she asked with a smile.
"Yes, but I have time," I answered, and I thanked her.
I followed her directions and found platform eight.
This time, I checked the twice before I got on.
The correct train was waiting, and I did not make the same mistake.
As the train left the city, tall mountains appeared far away.
I was going the right way at last, and I smiled.
