Deep in the forest, the travellers found an old and library.
Its shelves were said to hold the secrets of the first mapmakers.
Finn searched the dusty books while Cade guarded the broken door.
In a locked , Mira discovered a small bottle of black ink.
The ink was said to be older than the kingdom itself.
Beside it lay a , written in a shaking and hand.
"This ink is said to a map enormous and terrible power," Finn read.
"Whatever is drawn with it becomes real at once, without any ."
But the did not end with such a hopeful promise.
"The ink is said to take a memory from the one who uses it."
Finn felt a cold weight settle deep inside his .
"If I used this ink, I could rebuild the whole kingdom," he whispered.
"But if you used it," Mira replied, "you might forget who you are."
Cade frowned and said that no map was worth a stolen mind.
"If I forgot my family, would I still be truly myself?" Finn asked.
The three of them stared at the small and bottle.
Finn knew that ordinary ink was too weak to save Eldermere.
Yet the ink might cost him everything he loved and remembered.
"If I lost my memories, my maps would lose their heart," he said.
Mira gently wrapped the bottle and placed it inside Finn's pack.
"We will carry it, but we will not use it yet," she decided.
That night, Finn dreamed of a blank page where his past had been.
He woke in fear, unsure of what a single map might cost.
The ink waited quietly in his bag, patient as a sleeping curse.
