The Fight Over the Setlist
曲順をめぐる争い
As the contest came closer, the band began to bitterly about their set list.
Leo said that they should play only their new original song.
Mia replied that one single song was not enough to fill their time on stage.
Sam told the others that he wanted to add a long, fast drum .
Nora said that such a would make the whole performance far too long.
"If Sam listened to us, he would understand the real problem," Mia whispered angrily.
Sam felt that nobody in the group respected his ideas anymore.
He said that he had worked just as hard as everyone else in the band.
"If you really cared about the band, you would trust me," he told them coldly.
The argument grew louder and louder until Sam threw down his wooden drumsticks.
He said that he would not come to practice until they changed their minds.
Then he walked straight out of the garage and slammed the heavy door behind him.
The three members stared at one another in shocked, painful silence.
"If he weren't so , we would solve this in a single minute," Leo sighed.
Mia said that they still badly needed a drummer for the coming contest.
Days passed slowly, and Sam did not answer any of their worried messages.
Nora told the others that Sam was probably just waiting for an honest .
"If I were him, I would feel deeply hurt too," she admitted very quietly.
Leo said that the band was falling apart right before its biggest chance.
They tried to practise without any drums, but the songs felt and empty.
"If we had a full band again, we would sound complete," Mia said sadly.
The contest was now only ten short days away, and one seat stood painfully empty.
Each of them knew that was slowly destroying their shared dream.
That night nobody spoke, and the quiet garage felt colder than ever before.
