The Idea at Midnight
深夜のひらめき
Maya had always wanted to do something that could truly change people's lives.
She worked part-time at a small bakery near her university every evening.
One night, after the shop had closed, she watched the owner throw away bread.
Boxes of fresh sandwiches and cakes were dropped into large plastic bags.
"We can't sell food that has passed its time," the owner said quietly.
Maya stood there, staring at the food that nobody would ever eat.
She had seen this many times, but tonight it truly hurt her.
On her way home, she passed a man who was searching a cold rubbish bin.
He was looking for anything that people had thrown away that night.
The two scenes stayed in her mind: too much food, and too much .
"Why can't the food that gets wasted the people who need it?"
That single question kept her awake until the sky slowly turned grey.
By midnight, Maya had opened her laptop and started writing down her ideas.
She imagined an app that connected shops with people who were hungry nearby.
Shops could share the food that they had not sold before closing time.
Anyone nearby could see it, it, and pick it up for free.
"It's simple," she whispered, "but nobody has built it in this town yet."
She had never studied business, and she had almost no money to start.
Still, the idea felt more real than anything she had ever imagined before.
She wrote a name at the top of the page: "Table for Ten Thousand."
The huge number frightened her, yet it also made her heart beat faster.
Ten thousand meals saved: could three students really such a ?
Maya knew very well that she could not build this app all alone.
She needed people who believed in the same simple, dream.
As the sun rose, she typed a short message to her old Ken.
"Are you free tomorrow? I have an idea that really can't wait."
