Early the next morning, Mio and I went to the bakery.

The sky was still dark, and the streets were quiet.

Mr. Sato opened the door and welcomed us inside.

"The bun disappeared again," he said with a worried face.

We looked carefully at the shelf by the window.

There was an open window behind the wooden shelf.

Cold air came inside through that small window.

On the floor, there were three interesting clues.

"There is a story behind these three things," I said.

Bread crumbs show the way the thief escaped.
