Have You Ever Been Brave?
A quiet talk before the last night
Night came, and the valley was dark and quiet.
Leo and Pip sat under a small silver tree.
They were tired, and the shadow was still near.
"I am ," Pip said in a tiny voice.
"Have you ever been , Leo?" she asked softly.
Leo thought for a long, quiet .
"No, I have never been ," he said .
"I am small, and being is very hard for me."
"But climbing that tall tree taught me something," he said.
"Trying is more important than winning," Leo said slowly.
Pip looked at him with her big, bright eyes.
"Have you ever felt and gone on anyway?" she asked.
"Yes, in the cold water, I have felt real ."
"But swimming down was my , not the shadow's."
Leo stood up and looked at the dark trees.
"Being is , but running away is not the answer."
"Tonight, I am going to the shadow," he said.
Pip's wings glowed with a soft, warm light.
"Then I have found a real friend," she said, smiling.
"Helping each other makes us stronger," Leo said .
The two friends held hands in the quiet night.
"I have never had a braver friend," Pip whispered.
Leo felt small, but his heart felt big and warm.
Together, they waited for the morning light.
