A Letter
A white page, a brave plan, and the courage he still needs
That , Haru sat alone at his small desk.
He wanted to the sad distance between them.
"I will write her a letter," he decided.
He took a clean white sheet of .
At first, no words came to his mind.
Then he wrote slowly about the girl in the park.
"She is my cousin. She visited us last week," he wrote.
"I am sorry that I made you feel sad," he added.
He also wrote about their happy days on the bench.
"I really enjoy talking with you," the letter said.
At the end, he wrote, "I will wait for you."
He read the letter again and his hands shook.
"Will she read it? Will she me?" he thought.
On Monday, he put the letter in his bag.
At school, he saw Aoi near the library door.
His heart fast, and his feet stopped moving.
"I will give it to her now," he told himself.
But Aoi turned and walked into the busy library.
Haru's feeling suddenly became very small and weak.
He held the letter , but he could not move.
The letter stayed inside his school bag.
"Tomorrow. I will give it to her tomorrow," he said.
He walked home, holding his close to his heart.
