Fin's Choice

The new map showed a path up the mountain.

"The two moons will rise tonight," the captain said.

"We must reach the top before they meet."

We climbed the steep and rocky mountain path.

Rosa, the cook, was climbing just behind me.

Suddenly, small stones slipped under her feet.

Rosa fell and grabbed a thin branch below.

"Help me, Fin!" she cried from the edge.

The treasure was only a few steps away.

"Hurry, Fin! The moons will meet soon!" Bran called.

I looked at the treasure and then at Rosa.

For one moment, I did not know what to do.

Then I made my choice without any doubt.

"I will help Rosa first," I said clearly.

I ran back and reached down to her hand.

"Hold on, Rosa. I will not let you go."

I pulled her up with all my strength.

We both fell back onto the safe rocks.

Rosa was crying and holding me very tightly.

"Thank you, Fin. You saved my life," she said.

Captain Vela watched us with a warm smile.

"You chose your friend over the gold," she said.

"That was the bravest thing today, Fin."

I felt happy, even without the treasure.
