Among her colleagues, only Daniel ever treated Mina as a real friend.
He had worked at the Memory Bank longer than anyone else there.
When Mina looked worried, he always noticed it before she spoke.
That afternoon, he found her alone before the began.
"You have been asking questions," he said in a low voice.
"If I told you everything, you could not stay here safely."
Mina asked what he meant, but he only shook his head.
"If I were you, I would stop before it is too late."
"When people learn the truth, they usually ," he added quietly.
His words frightened her more than any rule in the contract.
"If you knew what this company hides, you would not sleep," he said.
Mina wanted to him, but fear held her back.
"Before you decide anything, think about your own ," Daniel warned.
If she had more , she would ask him to explain everything.
But she said nothing, and the moment passed like a cold wind.
When the ended, Daniel smiled at her one last time.
"If things were different, I would tell you all of it," he whispered.
He left the building before the evening lights came on.
The next morning, Daniel's desk was empty and completely clean.
His name had already been removed from every company list.
When Mina asked about him, no one seemed to remember his face.
It was as if he had never worked there at all.
If Daniel were still here, he would know exactly what to do.
Alone and afraid, Mina understood that the danger was now real.
